About Healthy Schools Newcastle
The Newcastle Healthy Schools Programme is led by the Public Health team ('Fair and Healthy Childhoods' portfolio) within Newcastle City Council. It has been running for many years and is a well established, successful programme with many schools having achieved Healthy School 'Status' and various Healthy School 'Plus' awards.
The new online audit tool (officially launching September 2023) has been revised and streamlined based on a consultation exercise carried out with schools during 2021/22. There is now one single Healthy School 'Status' for schools to work towards autonomously.
Healthy Schools Newcastle offers a free universal and targeted (based on Public Health need) service to schools. This includes good practice sharing events, signposting to relevant partner agencies, access to resource materials (see the 'Resources' section) and a termly Healthy Schools Forum meeting for PSHE/Health and Wellbeing leads within schools to come together with the team and access latest updates and CPD opportunities with guest speakers.
Termly submission dates for submitting your online healthy schools audit:
- Friday 22nd November 2024
- Friday 7th March 2025
- Friday 6th June 2025
